General Information

Die Oog Holiday Resort is situated in an idyllic environment, at the foot of the Waterberg, just outside the town of Naboomspruit. Only an hour and a half by car from Pretoria, Naboomspruit is ideally situated in the Malaria-free area of Limpopo.

Die Oog is historically one of the first hot spring resorts developed at a natural hot water spring in the Waterberg and offers a relaxing Bushveld holiday experience. It is the ultimate destination for fun loving and nature loving families and individuals, as well as outdoor and sport orientated families.


Facilities
Die Oog offers a wide variety of assorted facilities to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. In addition to the self-catering facilities, visitors can enjoy a night out relishing in fine food at our licensed restaurant.

There is a take-away as well as a shop and café located on the premises to fulfil any other requirements our visitors might have. An ATM is also available on the premises.

Conference facilities for groups consisting of 20 to 600 people are available. Massive congress halls, function halls and braai-areas are aplenty, thus large social groups, congresses, conferences, year-end functions and weddings are welcome.

At die Oog there certainly is no reason to be bored, because the resort offers a treasure trove of activities and recreational facilities to keep everyone in the family entertained for days on end.

For water lovers we offer hot and cold mineral pools as well as a mineral spa bath centre and a water slide. If you prefer sports we have tennis courts, miniature golf and volleyball.  Die Oog also provides playgrounds and kiddies-swimming pools for children.

Die Oog’s nature reserve - Serolo boasts as many as ten species including various types of antelope, not to mention the abundant fauna and flora and bird-life that can be viewed on the numerous hiking trails and guided tours offered by the resort. These tours offer a great way to get out in nature and truly experience Africa first hand, in a way that few South Africans ever do.

We also afford our guests the opportunity to view various species game on a 20 seater game viewer. This includes a scenic game drive on aproximately 3000 hectares and includes a bush braai or bush breakfast. (You however need to reserve your game drive and bush braai/breakfast with our Reception in advance.)

Die Oog also recently introduced three new unguided and very scenic hiking trails, comprising a one hour, two hour and four hour trail, on which guests can experience the true beauty and essence of the Bushveld.

Hides from where game and birdlife can be viewed are to be found along the way. Quad bike trails have also been developed and various nature outings and adrenalin experiences are on offer. Mountain bikers are also very welcome as the quad bike trails are also utilized by mountain bikers.


The Serolo Archers Club is also found at Die Oog. The Serolo Archers Facility is open to any person from age 6 who wishes to join the Serolo Archers Club, as well as any person affiliated to a bow hunting club or bow hunting organization in South Africa.

This facility also lends itself perfectly to visits by bow hunting clubs and organizations as well as Provincial, National and even International Bow Hunting Tournaments.

Room Description
Accommodation comprises 200 self-catering chalets and rondavels and 3 self-catering cottages/houses.

Each 4-bed chalet or rondavel has it’s own bathroom, kitchen and braai facilities, most with a television. The DSTV chalets with two separate bedrooms, even have a microwave oven. (Please bring your own smart card)

Our 6-bed rondavels, also with DSTV offer comfortable accommodation to bigger families, comprising a bedroom with a double bed and a separate loft sleeping 4 children.

The Serolo Hut, a 6-bed cottage with two separate bedrooms and a DSTV, will be enjoyed by nature loving families . It has a beautiful secluded braai-area adjoining the Serolo Nature Reserve from where Bushveld birdlife and game can be viewed. 

The Fish Eagle`s Nest, a beautiful rustic 6-bed cottage with solid rock walls and a thatch roof, comprises a bedroomwitha double bed and a separate loft with 4 single beds, a bath and shower, and is nestled on the banks of the Wynassie dam. Apart from being fully equipped the cottage also has a microwave oven and DSTV.

The Fish Eagle`s Nest has a wonderful braai-area overlooking the scenic dam surroundings and lends itself perfectly to the bigger family as well as honeymoon couples due to the beautiful setting.

The Nyala Guest House sleeps 8 people and comprises 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It also offers a DSTV, airconditioner in the lounge, a microwave oven and big fridge/freezer. A beautiful lapa with braai overlooks the scenic Serolo Nature Reserve.

The resort also boasts a scenic caravan park with 187 demarcated sites with electricity and shady trees, as well asample ablution facilities.
For added comfort, there are 16 luxury caravan sites, each with private ablution and shared scullery facilities as well as TV antenna.


Things to do in the area

Schlesinger Grave
Overlooking the town is the grave of the founder of Zebediela, the largest citrus estate in the world.

Nylsvley Nature Reserve
A scenic reserve 15 km southeast of the town on the banks of the Nyl River.

Zebediela
Named after a Ndebele chief, it is the largest citrus estate in the world.

Eugene Marais
This writer, philosopher, poet and physician spent several years in the Waterberg. He is world famous as the author of Soul of the White Ant and Burgers van die Berge, amongst others. Hiking trails and places of interest relate to his sojourn in the area.

Anglo Boer War Memorial
A memorial close to Boekenhout and Nylsvley Nature Reserve marks the site of a train derailment where several Boers died and were buried.

Directions
  • Take the N1 toll-road  - direction Pietersburg  (Polokwane )
  • Drive through Carousel and Kranskop toll-gates between Warmbaths (Bela-Bela) and Nylstroom (Modimolle)
  • Approximately 30 km`s after toll-gate - take the Naboomspruit (Mookgopong) turn-off
  • At the second traffic light in town - turn left (mineral baths indicated)
  • Drive for approximately 15 km`s
  • At T-junction turn left (mineral baths indicated)
  • At the second tar road to the right (just before tar road becomes    gravel road) - turn right (mineral baths indicated)
  • Approximately 100m - entrance to Rondalia Die Oog to the left
