Jatinga Country Lodge

General Information

A Shangri-la waiting to be discovered on the outskirts of White River, Mpumalanga.

With a long and proud history of excellence in all areas – from the luxurious rooms and suites to the tantalising cuisine and personalised service – Jatinga offers guests the very best of Mpumalanga.

Facilities
Accommodation
We have 16 Superior rooms and four Luxury suites (one being our romantic Honeymoon suite) at the Lodge all of which have been tastefully furnished in different styles - Colonial, Victorian, Provencal, French Country, African Colonial and English Country as well as our recently completed Orchard and Forest rooms – and offer guests luxurious comfort and secluded privacy. Our six new Orchard and Forest rooms form a little village on their own and, as their names suggest, some have a view over our citrus orchard while the others look into our pine forest.

Luxury Suites
An English Country garden theme will greet you in two of our suites, the only two that boast dual open fire places that can be enjoyed in the lounge or the bedroom! These suites also have magnificent Cherry wood four poster beds and secluded outdoor showers. Our Colonial suite will transport you into a bygone era with its checkered tiled bathroom floor and ball-and-claw bath. Sound systems are standard in our suites as is the sherry decanter, the contents of which are yours to enjoy with our compliments!

Superior Rooms
Our 16 Superior rooms are furnished in different styles, each one offering 5-star levels of comfort and luxury. Concrete baths dominate the bathrooms of our Provencal rooms while step up baths and hand made basins feature prominently in our French Country rooms. Outdoor showers are “added extras” in most of our rooms and will entice you to experience the magic of showering under the Milky Way.

Honeymoon Suite
A truly romantic, open-plan experience complete with inviting four poster bed, private garden with outdoor shower and plunge pool, sound system, sherry for your enjoyment, red roses and love in the air all around you ...

While different rooms offer guests different experiences,
like outdoor showers, open fire places or ½ ton concrete baths, each offers the same standard of luxurious comfort and space. Private patios are part of the experience with our Luxury suites offering you the added luxury of a separate lounge. No matter which room you find yourself in at Jatinga, you will find...

  • A well stocked mini bar and snack basket (ice is delivered to your room each afternoon in time for sundowners)
  • Tea & Coffee making facilities with fresh home baked biscuits
  • Limited room service menu
  • Air conditioner
  • Satellite TV
  • Telephone
  • Valet and Laundry service
  • Hair dryer
  • Bath robes

Weddings
Jatinga is undoubtedly one of the most romantic venues in the Lowveld for the exchange of your wedding vows. Whether it’s a small and intimate affair for close friends and family or a lavish wedding banquet, we are able to offer a tailor-made wedding package that will fulfil your dreams and meet all your needs.

Jatinga Chapel
Our quaint open-sided chapel is a romantic affair built on the banks of the White River. The minister, bride & groom are accommodated under the chapel roof while guests are seated on the open air flagstones with the White River quietly meandering behind them.

Function Room
Our versatile banqueting room lends itself to small or bigger groups and has fold away doors opening onto a private garden with a view of our pecan orchard in the distance.

Outdoor Options
Our temperate climate often lends itself to outdoor weddings and celebrating your special day in our gardens or on our open air flagstone area is a very attractive option. An elegant marquee can be set up in our gardens or, depending on numbers and the weather, our elevated wooden deck, overlooking the White River, offers a venue with a difference for a smaller, more intimate function. Alternatively our dining room or adjoining covered Colonial-style veranda are also popular choices.

The elevated deck is also a popular choice for your guests to enjoy a pre- or post wedding drink while you and your entourage capture this auspicious occasion on film.

Honeymoon Suite
Your wedding night is one that you’ll want to remember forever and our Honeymoon suite is an experience in itself! A completely open-plan experience, the gloriously decadent four-poster bed has pride of place in the suite that is furnished in the most romantic of furnishings and fabrics. A private garden with a splash pool and outdoor shower ensures complete and total privacy for newly weds.

Wedding Coordination
The services of our management and banqueting team are available to you throughout the planning stages of your function culminating on your actual wedding day. We will happily set up appointments for you to meet with the individual suppliers and obtain relevant quotes for: flowers, hairdresser and beauty treatments, photographer and videographer, wedding cakes, music and the like.

Conferences
Our tranquil country location makes the Lodge an ideal conference destination for PCO’s and companies looking for quiet surroundings that still offer professional and personalised service.

The Lodge is an easy 3 ½ hour drive from Johannesburg and only 4 ½ km from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport making it easily accessible to both road and air travellers. Daily scheduled flights into KMI Airport are operated by SA Airlink and Nationwide Airlines.

Our conference room is located a short distance away from the Lodge’s homestead and has fold-away doors along one wall opening onto a private garden with a view of our pecan orchard in the distance. The location and setting of the room creates a quiet and calm atmosphere that lends itself to serious business meetings. Depending on the seating configuration required, the room can comfortably seat up to 75 delegates.

Fine Dining
Jatinga has always had a reputation for fine dining and our a la carte restaurant, open seven days a week, will not disappoint.

Some say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day...

At Jatinga it is the first most important meal of the day! Whatever your preference may be, yogurt and muesli or Eggs Florentine, you’ll find it on our breakfast menu.

Lunch can be enjoyed al fresco at any one of our outdoor dining spots with the many different birds that call Jatinga home as your lunch time companions.

Dinners are an occasion at the Lodge, preferably an occasion that begins with a pre dinner drink in the Lord Milner, followed, if you choose, by a visit to our wine cellar to select a bottle of hand-picked estate wine. Then it’s onto the business at hand, ordering your evening meal.

Our culinary team at the Lodge have put together a varied and tempting a la carte menu that includes choices like a starter of Sesame Coated Prawns accompanied by a Thai mango Salsa, a main course of Venison Wellington topped with a biltong farce and, for dessert, home made Jatinga ice cream in a variety of flavours from decadent Chocolate to delicately flavoured Lavender …… with the lavender coming straight from our gardens!

Our restaurant is a quietly elegant room with uninterrupted views over the gardens which themselves offer secluded – and often romantic! – outdoor al fresco dining options. Engage is some theatre of the mind and picture your table, set up under a magnificent flowering Pride of India tree that is also home to a family of Olive Sunbirds …… scrumptious cuisine and professional, personal service will ensure that your meal is a memorable one.

Traditional High Teas, served on request, will transport you back into times gone by while one of our Gourmet Picnic Hampers will give a whole new meaning to your understanding of a picnic!

Things to do in the area
The lodge is located on the outskirts of White River, only 38 km from the Numbi entrance gate into the Kruger National Park and the private reserves of the Sabi Sands. We are also within easy driving distance to the many scenic attractions of the Panorama route like the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the historical mining town of Pilgrim’s Rest.
