Things to do in the area
Must do’s during your visit the Garden Route

  • Attend one of our many festival’s
  • Make a point of seeing the Knysna Seahorse.
  • Knysna Oysters: don’t leave without trying our succulent delicacy. Cultivated and Coastal, well known to this part of the world.
  • Walks along our pristine beaches, they stretch further than you may think. Brenton on Sea to Buffalo Bay is a personal favourite.
  • Visit one of the many weekend Farmers markets between Sedgefield and Plettenberg Bay where fresh local produce and “local is lekker” is the attraction.
  • A big must is the Friday Dinner market in Knysna
  • Attend the Knysna Playhouse, an intimate 200 seater theatre which Knysna is very proud to have

  • Enjoy the selection of exquisite hiking routes and walking trails along this coastline for the experienced and not so experienced.
  • Picnics in the Knysna Forest and other places of choice, picnics can be made up to suit your needs.
  • Bird watching is spectacular in and around Knysna so take care to catch a glimpse of the shy Knysna
  • Knysna Elephant Park, meet Harry, Sally & Duma Between Knysna & Plettenberg bay
  • Wolf Sanctuary situated between Knysna and Plettenberg bay
  • Whale and Dolphin watching , from boat & land.
  • Robberg Nature Reserve in Plettenberg Bay – a beautiful walk, stunning beach.

  • Abseiling the Knysna Heads (120m).
  • Bridge Jumping (swinging) at Gourits
  • The highest Bungi in the world off the Bloukrans bridge just past Tsitsikamma towards Port Elizabeth.

  • Swinging above treetops in the Tsitsikamma Forest,

  • Visit bygone days at old Millwood Goldfields or Millwood House Museum in Knysna.
  • Belividere Church in Belvidere Estate just outside Knysna driving to Brenton on Sea.
  • The Angling and Maritime Museums in the Old Goal Complex where you can view the Prehistoric Coelecanth fish.
